GIS Leadership Academy: Popular URISA Program to be Offered Twice in 2018

URISA is pleased to announce that its GIS Leadership Academy will be offered twice in 2018:

  • Columbus, Ohio - April 9-13, 2018
  • Salt Lake City, Utah - July 23-27, 2018

The success of any GIS program is largely tied to the capabilities of its leader. Strong leadership is necessary to establish a solid GIS program, operate efficiently and effectively, coordinate participants, adapt to change, and move a program forward. Leadership, however, is a skill that must be developed. URISA’s GIS Leadership Academy was established to meet this need.

2017 URISA Exemplary Systems in Government Award Recipients Announced

URISA Is pleased to announce the recipients of 2017 Exemplary Systems in Government (ESIG) Awards. Since 1980, URISA's ESIG Awards have recognized extraordinary achievements in the use of geospatial information technology that have improved the delivery and quality of government services. The award competition is open to all public agencies at the federal, state/provincial, regional and local levels. Applications were submitted within Enterprise and Single Process System categories.

2017 URISA Board Election Results Announced

URISA is pleased to announce the results of its 2017 URISA Board of Directors’ election. Kim McDonough will serve in the position of President-Elect and Lynn Dupont, Glenn O'Grady and Bryan Townsend will serve as Directors. They will all begin their three-year terms at the conclusion of GIS-Pro 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida this October.

Planners Can Earn Ample CM Credits At URISA Conferences

All professional planners who are members of the American Planning Association's professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), must engage in mandatory continuing education to maintain their certification. AICP members must earn a total of 32 CM credits (1 contact hour = 1 CM credit) within their two-year reporting period.
